Objectives

The "Power UP" project aims to achieve several key outcomes by focusing on building the competences of youth workers in sustainability, leadership, and renewable energy. The project seeks to empower youth workers to start the change in their communities, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and tools to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices through their work with young people. The objectives from the perspective of youth work practice include: 1. Enhancing sustainability competences among Youth workers: Objective: Equip youth workers with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to integrate sustainability and renewable energy practices into their work. Why it’s important: Youth workers often serve as role models and leaders for young people. By equipping them with sustainability competences, they can inspire the next generation to adopt eco-friendly practices and contribute to a more sustainable future. 2. Developing leadership and project management skills: Objective: Strengthen youth workers’ leadership and project management skills, enabling them to lead sustainability initiatives and youth-led projects in their communities. Why it’s important: Youth workers need to be strong leaders capable of guiding young people through practical projects that foster environmental awareness. Building leadership skills will empower them to manage projects, engage young people, and mobilize local communities to take collective action on sustainability issues. 3. Promoting non-formal education methods in Youth work: Objective: Encourage the use of non-formal education techniques, such as experiential learning, games, and workshops, to teach sustainability concepts in youth work. Why it’s important: Non-formal education methods are highly effective in youth work as they promote active learning and engagement. By incorporating these methods into their practice, youth workers can create dynamic and impactful learning experiences for young people. 4. Fostering international collaboration and networking: Objective: Build a strong international network of youth workers and organizations committed to sustainability, creating opportunities for future collaboration and sharing of best practices. Why it’s important: International collaboration allows youth workers to learn from diverse experiences, gain new perspectives, and create partnerships that can lead to innovative projects and joint initiatives focused on sustainability. 5. Empowering Youth workers to inspire and lead youth in sustainability efforts: Objective: Enable youth workers to become advocates for sustainability and lead young people in taking concrete actions to protect the environment and adopt green practices. Why it’s important: Youth workers are in a unique position to influence and guide young people. By empowering them to take leadership in sustainability efforts, the project ensures that young people are motivated and equipped to contribute to the fight against climate change and environmental degradation. 6. Creating long-term impact in local communities: Objective: Ensure that youth workers are able to apply the skills and knowledge gained in their local contexts, developing initiatives that have a lasting impact on the environment and youth engagement. Why it’s important: For the project to have a sustained impact, it is essential that youth workers are prepared to continue leading and promoting sustainability in their communities after the project ends, ensuring that the project’s outcomes are embedded into local practices.
