Objectives

The project will address the challenges international youth workers face in conducting environmental education and awareness activities, including the total shift in the interests and ways of information consumption among youth. Today, the partner organizations see and report that youth, even their long-time beneficiaries, are less likely to attend training and seminars, no longer read and engage with long articles in their blogs or websites to fill the gaps in their knowledge about the environment and its protection. Instead, they have been shifted towards digital platforms, where social media, influencers and short-form content dominate the way young people consume information. Youth are increasingly turning to influencers on platforms like Instagram, TikTok and YouTube to shape their views, gather knowledge and stay updated on current trends and issues. This change in behavior makes partner organizations adapt their strategies and employ new methods to engage with youth where they are most active—through social media campaigns, influencer partnerships and visually compelling, easily digestible content. Thus, the aim of the project is to empower 24 youth workers from 8 youth organizations in Europe and the South Caucasus to effectively promote environmentally sustainable practices among youth by using social media influencing techniques through targeted training and practical sessions. The specific objectives of the project are: - To increase the knowledge of 24 youth workers from 8 youth organizations in Europe and Southern Caucasus by 60% on social media influencing techniques related to environmental education and awareness within 8 days of targeted residential training. - To ensure that at least 70% of youth workers report an increase in confidence and skills in using social media to educate about sustainable practices by the end of the training. - To support at least 60% of trained youth workers to create and test social media influencing campaigns focused on environmental issues, reaching out to 8000 young people by the end of the project.
