Objectives

Our country has recently faced a huge disaster, the wounds of which we still cannot heal. On February 6, 2023, a huge natural disaster, unprecedented in the world, occurred in 6 major provinces centered in Kahramanmaraş. We still continue to experience their pain in our hearts. With this earthquake disaster, we lost many lives in these regions. This natural disaster predicts that we must live by accepting some facts. The currently expected and possible major Istanbul earthquake will severely affect the entire Marmara Region. The impact of this disaster will most likely affect our project partners, either indirectly or actually. Many scientists continue to make statements about this issue every day, both on social media and on TV channels. There are three active fault lines in the region we live in. Finally, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake occurred on 12.04.2023. The strangest part is that even while writing a project about this, we evacuate our homes with a shock greater than 3. When we examine the AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency) Kandilli Observatory Earthquake Network Initiative (ENI) sites, we can see all the earthquakes. Approximately 30 earthquakes have occurred in the last 5 years. (https://www.afad.gov.tr) (https://www.msf.org). As a country, we are in the zone of active earthquake zones and it is an inevitable fact that we must face this fact, live accordingly and take precautions. We, as a nation, need to be aware of this issue. In this regard, as a country, non-governmental organizations, politicians, universities, academicians, municipalities and similar institutions should come together with a common idea and seriously raise awareness of our people and people about natural disasters. Of course, as an inevitable fact here, we need to be sensitive to the education and awareness of people by non-governmental organizations or educators teaching in schools. Gemlik Municipality and Gemlik Provincial Youth and Sports Directorate are also our stakeholders. As an official institution of the state, we show sensitivity in the education of young people within ourselves and around us. In this project, which our institution will implement as a youth project for young teachers, we aim to increase our own capacity and teach innovative structures to young people with teachers from 5 different countries (Italy, Romania, Greece, Bulgaria) where we will come together on natural disasters. Partner country teachers who receive the same training will also be able to provide education on disasters to both their environment and their students in their own countries. EU youth policy documents emphasize that young people and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) can play an important role in disaster preparedness and response. Young people can volunteer to help disaster victims. Young people can help develop disaster prevention plans to be prepared for disasters. Young people can organize campaigns and events to raise awareness about disasters. We believe that we can do more beneficial work for society by creating a common natural disaster management skill and emergency action plan in our consortium with our partner organizations. Of course, the participants will also increase their knowledge and skills in the foreseen field and improve themselves in order to be more useful to society. Aims of Our Project *To ensure that the issue of disasters is on the agenda before natural disasters, depending on the project, *For a conscious society to be prepared for earthquakes based on past earthquakes; Paying attention to issues such as preparing an earthquake bag, inspected buildings, earthquake insurance and solid buildings. *Training our participants on first aid even in case of an accident, *To educate and raise awareness of the society in order to develop pre-disaster and post-disaster skills against an earthquake, *In general, creating a ready-made society, ready-made neighborhoods, and even a ready-made nuclear structure, that is, the family, against natural disasters, *To raise awareness of our young generation about disasters, *To disseminate the issue of natural disasters, which has an important place all over the world, with our stakeholders through the Erasmus+ platform, within the scope of the subject we cover in our project, *To improve awareness of the European Union in our country and to ensure the continuity of Eramus+ projects, *To disseminate and encourage volunteering activities, based on the importance of first response in the event of a natural disaster, *To raise awareness of adolescents and young people at an early age about natural disasters with the support of family members, *To raise awareness in the society through brochures and trainings prepared before natural disasters, *To emphasize the importance of protecting natural life, *To create cultural awareness through our project activities.
