Objectives

Our primary goal in implementing this project was to raise awareness among young people about the growing problems of digital addiction, sedentary lifestyles, and unhealthy eating habits, and to contribute to their adoption of sports and physical activity as a sustainable way of life. The project aimed to draw attention to the problem of physical inactivity, particularly among young people, which has emerged with the increased use of social media and digital games, and to create awareness based on sports as an alternative. The fact that, according to World Health Organization data, a large proportion of young people do not participate in the recommended level of physical activity formed one of the starting points of our project and clearly demonstrated the need to guide young people towards a healthier lifestyle. In this context, one of the main objectives of the project was to bring together young people from different countries and cultural backgrounds to develop a common awareness on sports, healthy living, and digital balance. Within the scope of the project, participants were asked to analyze the relationship between digital addiction, eating habits, and incorporating physical activity into daily life, and to develop their own perspectives on these issues. Thus, the goal was to enable young people to become individuals who can make more informed decisions at both individual and societal levels. Another important objective of the project is to improve the personal and social skills of young people. In this context, through the non-formal education methods applied throughout the project, participants were aimed to acquire horizontal skills such as teamwork, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and self-confidence. At the same time, reducing prejudices, strengthening intercultural understanding, and creating an environment of solidarity around shared values through the collaboration of young people from different cultures were also among the important goals of the project. Furthermore, when evaluated from a youth work perspective, the project aimed to create a learning process that encourages the active participation of young people, supports them in having a say in matters affecting their lives, and contributes to the development of healthy lifestyle habits. It was emphasized that sports are an important tool not only for physical health but also for mental health, social integration, and personal development, and the project aimed to increase young people's awareness in this area. The aims of our project are to increase young people's awareness of sports and healthy living, to encourage them to establish a balanced relationship with the digital world, to create an environment of international cooperation and intercultural learning, and to contribute to the development of young people as more active, healthy, and conscious individuals at both individual and societal levels. In line with these objectives, the project is designed as a comprehensive initiative that highlights the transformative power of sport in youth work.
