Objectives

Echoes of Deception is a European Union Training Course that educates participants on the difference between disinformation and misinformation through practical applications. With the implementation of this project, young participants will come together to learn how to protect themselves from disinformation and how to access accurate information through workshops and various activities. We aim to enhance participants' critical thinking skills to question and investigate the accuracy of news, especially regarding misinformation in the digital world. According to a study conducted in 2022, 60% of social media users accept information they see online as accurate without questioning it. This becomes a serious issue when combined with the fact that misinformation spreads six times faster than accurate information. In the workshops, participants will improve their ability to identify rapidly spreading misinformation and access correct information, making them more conscious individuals in the digital world. In recent years, with the advancement of artificial intelligence, numerous applications have emerged. One such development is the use of AI to manipulate the faces and voices of public figures and celebrities in fake videos or images. According to a report published in 2020, the use of these applications increased by more than 100% from 2019, reaching 14,678 cases. These figures continue to grow each year. To prevent further escalation, our expert trainers will inform young participants about this technology and provide them with educational workshops to help them gain a new perspective on the subject. Our goal is to create a generation of young people who are aware of how to protect themselves from misinformation, possess digital literacy skills, and have a research-oriented mindset, ensuring they become more conscious individuals in both their professional and personal lives. The organization coordinating the project is the PACEM Youth Association. 30 young participants will take part in the project, which will be held in Istanbul (Asia). In today's world, where misinformation is on the rise, "Echoes of Deception" aims to foster a more informed society by enhancing young people's abilities to access accurate information, think critically, and disseminate information responsibly. Our goal is to improve the quality of youth work in our partner organizations by increasing the knowledge and skills of young participants. Through sharing their experiences and memories, participating in workshops, and analyzing the knowledge gained, participants will gain a broader perspective on the effects of disinformation. Our primary objective is to enhance the skills and knowledge of our young participants. All the trainers participating in the project are experienced volunteers, both nationally and internationally. Our aim is to collaborate with our partner organizations to create a project with a solid foundation.
