Individuals' inability to sufficiently utilize their physical, mental, spiritual, or sensory functions has been observed throughout every period in history. In our era, it is possible to encounter individuals with disabilities all around the world. Terms like “disability,” “handicap,” and “impairment” frequently appear in global literature. In recent years, the concept of "individuals with special needs" has emerged in our country and has begun to gain acceptance within society. These terms may offer a polite definition for individuals with disabilities, but what is truly important for individuals with special needs is moving beyond the words that define their disability and better understanding that they may have different expectations and needs compared to other individuals in society. The foundation of our project is to foster a more accurate understanding of the concept of disability, free from prejudice, and to support the inclusion of individuals with special needs in their communities through sports. Sports can be an excellent and effective tool for promoting various educational practices, solidarity, diversity, inclusivity, and cultural values. By combining healthy physical activity with social and cultural heritage and diversity, it is highly possible to bring together individuals with different characteristics in an enjoyable way. Sports can be a powerful tool for education and participation, especially when working with young people, as it can be highly motivating and engaging. It can also act as a bridge between different social groups, fostering better mutual understanding and dialogue. In our project, we aim to showcase the unifying power of sports through rowing. Rowing is a water sport that involves propelling a boat using oars. The athlete sits on a sliding seat that moves back and forth within the boat, placing the oar blade in the water and pulling the oar, causing the boat to move forward. Through proper technique, the athlete aligns their body muscles with the movement of the boat, engaging in a full-body workout. During the rowing motion, the arms, legs, and upper body are utilized in both pulling and pushing directions. The recreational rowing we will use in our project is a form of rowing done for leisure, healthy living, and entertainment. These boats are wider than racing boats and have no balance issues on the water. While enjoying time on the water, this fun sport also serves as an exercise activity suitable for people of all ages. Our project goals are as follows: -Promote the correct understanding and use of the term "individuals with special needs," -Foster a better understanding of the concept of disability and reduce prejudice towards individuals with special needs, -Highlight the role of sports as a tool in the process of integrating young people with special needs into society, -Encourage young people to participate in physical activity, -Contribute to removing barriers to participation in physical activity, -Emphasize the benefits of sports related to inclusivity, diversity, and health, -Draw attention to the adaptation of sports equipment and rules to meet the needs of individuals with special needs, -Create learning environments where young people can express themselves more effectively, -Encourage young people to engage in physical activity, -Increase the impact of global sports activities, -Develop the capacity of organizations working with individuals with special needs and in the sports sector, -Foster new collaborations and projects in the fields of individuals with special needs and sports, -Draw attention to the European Union's inclusivity and diversity strategy, -Contribute to European Sports Week.
