By implementing our project, our main objective was to improve the knowledge, awareness, and skills of our participants from six different countries regarding climate change and the impacts of climate change on agriculture. The main focus of the project was determined directly as the effects of the climate crisis on agriculture. This focus was linked to Ayvalık’s strong connection with olives and olive cultivation, with the aim of addressing the project objectives within a more concrete and understandable framework in the local context. One of the main objectives of our project was to create a learning process in which our participants could understand the relationship between climate change and agriculture not only at a theoretical level but also through practice, observation, and comparative learning. For this reason, the project design was structured to bring together presentations, group work, discussions, visual and artistic activities, field visits, and contact with local stakeholders. By using non-formal learning methods, it was aimed to strengthen joint learning by enabling our participants to approach the topic through local examples and by encouraging participants from different countries to share their own experiences. In addition, by sharing their local experiences regarding the impacts of climate change on agriculture, it was aimed that they could comparatively evaluate how the same issue is experienced in different geographies. It was to ensure the active participation of our participants in the project process and to support them in taking direct responsibility in the activities. In this context, it was aimed for our participants to take an active role in idea development, task sharing, joint decision-making, giving presentations, and evaluation processes. In this way, it was aimed to develop communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. At the same time, it was also among our objectives to establish a learning foundation through which our participants could transfer the knowledge and experience they gained during the project process to their own lives and their own communities. The objectives of our project also included strengthening active citizenship, democratic participation, social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and solidarity. It was aimed that our participants from different countries and different social backgrounds would learn together through joint activities, share different life experiences, agricultural practices, and perspectives on the environment, develop mutual understanding, and experience a joint working process within the framework of European values. In this process, it was aimed to create a learning environment that would contribute to reducing prejudices, questioning stereotypes, and developing a shared culture of cooperation. It was also among our objectives for our participants to gain experience in communicating with groups speaking different languages, develop more self-confidence in overcoming language barriers, and be able to cooperate within cultural differences. Thus, the project aimed to support the development of our participants not only around the theme of climate change and agriculture, but also in terms of intercultural learning and international communication skills. It was to create a visibility and sharing process through which our participants could disseminate the topics they learned throughout the project. In this direction, social media content and visibility activities had an important place in the project design. The aim was to increase the visibility of the project theme and the Erasmus+ programme, to ensure that the project results would not remain limited to the activity days only, and to create a dissemination basis that could reach a wider audience. One of the objectives of our project was to strengthen the learning process by establishing cooperation with local stakeholders. In this direction, it was planned to carry out joint work in the field and activity areas with stakeholders such as Ayvalık Municipality, Ayvalık Site Management, the UNESCO team, and TEMA. Through these collaborations, it was aimed to create a process in which our participants could address the topic not only within their own group work but also through field practices and expert contributions. One of the important objectives of our project was also to strengthen sustainable cooperation with partner organisations. It was aimed to remain in continuous communication with our partners throughout the project process and to act jointly in the activities. In addition, it was aimed that this cooperation would not be limited only to the current project, that the partnerships would continue in new Erasmus+ applications to be made in 2026, and in this way to establish a lasting partnership basis so that Turkish participants could benefit more from future Erasmus+ opportunities.
