Diplomacy is a key element of foreign policy, with its primary goal being the protection of national interests, the prevention of conflicts in the global community, and the building and maintaining of peace. Today, this field is divided into approximately 20 sub-categories (Çakmak, Çobanoğlu, Ülker, 2018), and research indicates that the most common and effective form of diplomacy is civil diplomacy (https://l24.im/oRYB). Civil diplomacy is an area where countries engage in mediation, negotiation, and advocacy through representatives who do not hold official status, and it is carried out by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the context of globalization. The perception that NGOs represent public conscience, operate with a strong sense of responsibility, and work based on rights makes them leading, and even decision-making, actors in diplomacy compared to other players. NGOs take on various roles in civil diplomacy, such as promoting culture, building bridges, organizing international aid activities, and acting as mediators in crisis situations. The increase in these activities has also led to a greater demand for specialized NGOs and professionals working in this field. The growing interest in civil diplomacy requires NGOs that work with young people to reassess their institutional capacities and professionalize their youth communication methods. Diplomacy is a serious and specialized field, and young people need expert support to understand and professionalize in this area. This support can be provided by youth NGOs and youth workers. Project Objective: The "Social Intelligence in Civil Diplomacy Project" will be carried out in partnership with Sosyal Akıl Derneği, İstanbul Stratejik Araştırma ve Düşünme Derneği (İSDAM), and International Budapest Youth (IBY). The project aims to professionalize youth workers in the field of civil diplomacy and to enhance their institutional capacities in a multifaceted manner. The project seeks to develop the institutional capacities of organizations serving the youth sector through international cooperation, support the individual development of staff, help them adapt to the diplomacy ecosystem, and introduce innovative elements to their organizations. After a 2-month preparation period, three TPMs (Transnational Project Meetings) will be held in Istanbul and Hungary for a total of 15 youth workers and 3 group leaders. 1. Additionally, as an outcome of the project, a "Civil Diplomacy and Peacebuilding Toolkit" will be developed and made available online to reach a wide audience. Project Goals: -To expand participation in diplomacy through NGOs in various European countries and Turkey. -To increase the knowledge and awareness levels of the partners on diplomacy concepts and current developments, helping them set strategies. -To equip youth workers with practical skills and enhance their expertise. -To develop advocacy and negotiation skills among youth workers. -To identify the needs of young people in diplomacy and develop a follow-up plan and method. -To provide insight and understanding of the main issues and challenges in global relations. -To engage youth in dialogue around critical global issues. -To foster the creation of innovative, accessible, and participatory NGOs. At the end of the project, participants will gain the following skills in terms of both personal and professional development: -Effective communication skills within a group -The ability to deal with/identify potential crises and risks -Effective project management skills -Portfolio development skills The project will enhance the institutional capacity of NGOs and youth workers, enabling them to reach more young people and activate youth in the field of civil diplomacy. Additionally, the development of the quality and capacity of the partner organizations' youth work will likely lead to a renewal of the institutions' image and an increase in new young volunteers and youth workers.
