Objectives

Our initiative, "Youth in Action: Shaping Resilient Futures," aims to empower youth workers with the essential knowledge, skills, and tools to strengthen disaster resilience within their communities. By equipping youth workers with practical abilities and leadership qualities, we will develop a generation of young leaders capable of mobilizing and training others in disaster preparedness and response. This project will cultivate a culture of responsibility, proactivity, and community-oriented leadership among young people, fostering the creation of resilient and prepared societies. Project Objectives: 1. Capacity Building: To enhance the competencies of youth workers in disaster preparedness, risk assessment, and emergency response strategies. This objective covers critical practical skills, including first aid, psychological first aid, and effective first response tactics, enabling youth workers to be confident and ready when faced with real-life disaster scenarios. 2. Knowledge Transfer: To create a dynamic platform for the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices among youth workers from diverse backgrounds and regions. By sharing case studies and lessons learned, youth workers will enrich their understanding of various approaches to disaster management, contributing to a more comprehensive and inclusive understanding of disaster preparedness. 3. Community Mobilization: To equip youth workers with the necessary tools, techniques, and strategies to engage and train young people and communities in disaster preparedness and response. This includes effective communication techniques, creative engagement strategies, and community organizing methods to foster participation and resilience at the grassroots level. 4. Networking and Collaboration: To foster lasting relationships between youth organizations and workers across national borders. Through cross-border networking and collaboration, we aim to strengthen future coordination in disaster response efforts, enabling more unified and effective responses to crises. 5. Youth Empowerment: To position young people as key players in building resilient communities. By empowering youth workers, we seek to instill leadership qualities and a sense of agency in young people, encouraging them to take proactive roles in disaster preparedness and community resilience. Youth Work Practice Perspective: 1. Empowerment: The project aims to empower youth workers, equipping them with the confidence, knowledge, and skills necessary to effectively engage in disaster management efforts. This empowerment will enable them to become catalysts for change within their own communities, empowering others and fostering community resilience. 2. Peer-to-Peer Training: We embrace a peer education approach by training youth workers to become peer educators who can effectively deliver disaster preparedness programs to other young people. This model aligns with the core principles of youth work, where peer-to-peer education and mutual support are fundamental. 3. Community Engagement: Youth work is deeply rooted in community engagement and mobilization, and our project reflects this by providing youth workers with the tools and strategies to engage communities effectively. Participants will be trained in techniques for community outreach, facilitating workshops, and leading initiatives to increase disaster awareness and preparedness at the local level. 4. Youth Leadership: Youth leadership is central to the success of this project. By encouraging youth workers to take on leadership roles, we aim to develop young leaders who are capable of spearheading disaster resilience efforts in their communities. This aligns with youth work practice, which prioritizes the development of leadership skills and youth-led initiatives. 5. Networking: Our project emphasizes the importance of collaboration, partnership-building, and networking, both within and across national borders. Through these networks, youth workers and organizations can continue to share resources, ideas, and experiences, leading to more coordinated and effective youth work initiatives in disaster preparedness and beyond. Long-Term Impact: The objectives of "Youth in Action: Shaping Resilient Futures" align closely with the guiding principles of youth work. By empowering youth workers, we are investing in sustainable, long-term change that will create more resilient communities, better prepared to face future disasters. The skills, networks, and leadership capacities developed through this project will not only benefit participants during the project period but will also contribute to their ongoing efforts in youth work and disaster resilience initiatives.
