Our project was designed to reduce the negative impacts of the increasing amount of disinformation in digital media on young people and to help them build resilience against false information. During the needs analysis conducted in the application phase, it was identified that young people experience difficulties in accessing accurate information, are more vulnerable to misleading content, and that disinformation can generate emotional consequences such as stress and anxiety, thereby negatively affecting emotional balance. For this reason, our project focused not only on information verification skills, but also on emotion regulation capacity, which enables young people to cope with the emotional burden created by misinformation. By implementing the project, we aimed to support young people in becoming conscious, critical-thinking, and emotionally resilient individuals in the face of disinformation encountered in the digital world; to help them distinguish false information from accurate information; and to enable them to cope in a healthy manner with stress and anxiety triggered by negative online content. In addition, one of the project’s key orientations was to encourage young people to move beyond being passive consumers of information and to become more active, responsible, and socially influential participants on digital platforms. Within this framework, the main objectives of our project were as follows: 1) To develop young people’s emotion regulation strategies to help them manage their emotional responses to negative content encountered in digital environments and to strengthen their psychological resilience. 2) To enhance young people’s digital media literacy by improving their ability to recognize disinformation, think critically, and question/discriminate digital content. 3) To promote digital citizenship and a sense of social responsibility among young people by increasing their awareness of the societal impacts of disinformation and by laying the groundwork for democratic and civic participation. 4) To strengthen the capacity of youth-serving organisations and educators to integrate emotion regulation and digital media literacy components into youth work and to support the dissemination of the project results.
