Objectives

Today, sport has transcended being merely a physical activity; it has become a tool that can even influence the political order in countries, serving as an indicator of social well-being and social participation. Different definitions of sport can be made, based on various dimensions. Taking its origins as a starting point, sport can be defined as an aesthetic, technical, physical, competitive, and social process based on the peaceful use of human skills and methods of combat (both with and without tools) acquired in the struggle against nature, individually or collectively, through simulation, for play, leisure, and escape from work, depending on the increase in leisure time. Politics, on the other hand, can be defined as a specific path or course of action chosen from among many alternatives to guide present and future decisions, a long-term plan, and a set of principles guiding leaders in decision-making. Numerous studies show that in developed societies, participation in sports and the number of sports spectators are high, alcohol and tobacco use and obesity rates are low, and cardiovascular diseases are less common. Looking at the period from the founding of the Republic to the present as a whole, the main policies related to sport are: The goals of sports policies include promoting sports throughout society, prioritizing mass sports, encouraging amateur sports, supporting professional sports, constructing sports facilities, and developing in-school and out-of-school sports for young people to utilize their leisure time. However, since 2003, policies have clearly shown that sports are not only a means of utilizing leisure time, but also an important tool for socialization and a healthy society, and significant steps have been taken towards a contemporary sports policy. Nevertheless, the low ratio of licensed athletes to our population and our low international success rate, as well as the fact that sports have not become a way of life, indicate that sports policies have not been implemented at the desired level. In our country, which has passed the 100th anniversary of the Republic and is moving forward with new and strong goals, the main objective of this project was to ensure the development of sports policies by making the wishes and expectations of young people heard by civil society and public institutions that continue to be the voice of young people. This project, by enabling young people to learn the concept of sports in depth and encouraging their participation in sports, became their voice in the implementation of sports policies. Young people discovered different sports, explored the social, economic, and societal importance of sports, and contributed to sports policies in line with their own expectations. Another key objective achieved through this project was fostering collaboration between civil society organizations and public institutions working in the field of sports, facilitated by young people, and ensuring civil society participation in sports policies. Furthermore, another important goal reached during this project was enabling young people to have a greater say in matters that concern them, to participate more effectively in democratic life, and to express their thoughts more effectively and in a way that benefits society. Some other objectives achieved in the project include: - Contributing to the widespread participation in sports in societies, especially among young people, - Promoting different sports branches, - Increasing the visibility of European Sport Week, - Promoting the Erasmus+ program locally and nationally, - Supporting institutions working in the field of sports, - Strengthening the national communication network in the field of sports, - Strengthening cooperation between public institutions and civil society organizations, especially in the field of sports and youth, - Publishing a digital booklet on sports policies and participation in sports, - Increasing the number of young volunteers. Representatives of the institutions involved in the project and the young people participating in the project played a key role in achieving the defined objectives. The successful execution of workshops by partner institutions in their respective provinces undoubtedly ensured the most effective outcome of the project. Almost all project participants were valuable young people aware of their responsibilities and concerned about the future of their country. These young people, living in different cities and having diverse backgrounds, came together to express their feelings and thoughts in the most effective way, ensuring that the project's outcomes reached the maximum number of young people.
