Objectives

Rights Matter aimed to raise awareness of human rights among young people and to move them from passive knowledge to active advocacy. The project came out of an earlier youth exchange in Wuppertal (May 2024), where partners and young people noticed a specific gap: participants cared about human rights but could not clearly distinguish them from civil rights, and often felt powerless to act. From this observation, we set the following objectives: - Raise awareness of human rights among young people and adults, and stress the importance of not treating these rights as negotiable - Increase participants' willingness to advocate for human rights in their own communities - Build participants' skills to create "messages" (posters, videos, digital content, performances) using different methods - Promote active citizenship - Produce a brochure and digital materials for wider dissemination of human rights information - Increase participants' knowledge of the Erasmus+ programme and how they can benefit from it - Expand participants' skills in developing their own project ideas The project also addressed shared EU values (human dignity, equality, non-discrimination, rule of law) and contributed to the horizontal priorities of inclusion, digital and participatory dimension.
