Objectives

Unfortunately, in both our society and across the European Union, many young people lack awareness regarding the serious consequences of environmental pollution. They are often unaware of how pollution harms ecosystems, public health, and the climate. This ignorance can lead to apathy, reducing the urgency of addressing environmental issues. Despite preventive measures and international agreements, many young people still fail to recognize the severity of air and water contamination, waste management issues, and long-term environmental consequences. Austria is a leader in Europe in terms of circular economy practices. The BMK has advocated for a shift from the traditional "take, make, dispose" model to a circular one, where products are reused, repaired, and recycled to minimize waste and conserve resources. The Austrian government is actively promoting sustainable product design, resource-efficient manufacturing, and comprehensive recycling systems. The Austrian Ministry for Climate Action (BMK) is deeply involved in waste management, recycling, and sustainability initiatives. Austria boasts one of Europe’s highest recycling rates, with over 60% of municipal waste recycled. The country’s waste management includes comprehensive public waste collection, sorting, and recycling systems. The goal is to reduce waste generation and increase recycling rates, which are essential for sustainable development. Vienna has committed to achieving a zero-waste goal by 2025, aiming to reduce the city's waste by 50%. Additionally, the city plans to recycle 90% of its organic waste. The waste produced from our consumption can become less of a problem if we develop environmental awareness. This awareness begins with simple actions, such as properly disposing of trash and supporting recycling initiatives. However, addressing waste on a larger scale also requires governmental support through policies that encourage recycling and sustainability. For these efforts to be effective, they must reach the younger generation. Educating young people about environmental issues and empowering them to take action is crucial for ensuring a cleaner, healthier planet. Young people play a critical role in environmental efforts. When they understand environmental challenges, their collective actions can create significant change. By adopting sustainable practices and actively managing waste and recycling, they help reduce pollution and conserve resources. These actions will improve the environment and ensure a livable world for future generations. Through personal habits, campaigns, and social media, young people can inspire widespread change. Small individual efforts can turn into large movements, impacting communities and society as a whole. This project brings together young people from various countries, each with different cultures, infrastructures, and perspectives, to raise awareness of environmental issues. By participating in environmental events, they will gain knowledge and share experiences. Upon returning to their home countries, they will be equipped to inspire positive change. The skills and knowledge they acquire will enable them to advocate for environmental protection, spreading awareness among their peers. This initiative will help spread the message of sustainability and contribute to a global movement for a cleaner, more sustainable world. The primary goal of our project is to significantly raise young people's awareness about the importance of environmental cleanliness and sustainability. We aim to not only educate them about the challenges our planet faces due to pollution and waste, but also inspire them to actively participate in creating cleaner and more sustainable environments. By providing young people with the knowledge, tools, and motivation, we hope to empower them to take concrete actions in their communities—whether it’s through waste reduction, recycling, or advocating for environmentally friendly policies. Specific Goals: • Educate young people about the issues caused by environmental pollution. • Teach the importance of recycling solid waste materials. • Encourage young people to adopt the habit of disposing of waste in designated bins. • Raise awareness among the local community about environmental cleanliness. • Introduce young people to best practices in environmental conservation. • Foster a sense of awareness in young people about how a clean environment enhances quality of life.
