By gathering people from different backgrounds, we want to convey knowledge and raise awareness on topics of human rights education and social circus and together try out activities combining both fields. The youth exchange will give participants the opportunity to exchange knowledge as well as to experience the benefits of these two branches of non- formal education themselves. We thereby also want to encourage young people to spread these pedagogical benefits in future actions. Through the activity, we want to pave the way for a continuous program in the framework of an interdisciplinary project of circus pedagogy and human rights education. In order to further inclusion of marginalized groups through access to cultural education using the circus arts and to inspire people to be human rights defenders and multipliers of learned skills and knowledge, we want to create a Circus of Human Rights. By bringing a diverse group of people together, there will be an (ex)change of mindsets, the participants will learn new skills, reflect about themselves, societal privileges, inequality and inclusion. The skills they will gain are on a larger scale contributing to a more inclusive society and the new perspectives gained will break down stereotypes. By including marginalized youth we aim to give a voice to the target group, who are supposed to benefit from access to cultural activities and access to Human Rights Education to actually understand their needs and wishes and practice real participation. As an impact we wish to inspire the young participants to become active in the fields, become Human Rights defenders and multiply the knowledge they have gained. The participants will learn the advantages of an interdisciplinary approach and use it in their everyday life.
