We aimed to encourage young people to actively participate in society and take responsibility for their communities. A key objective was to provide students with practical volunteering experiences and to show them that their commitment can make a positive difference in the lives of others. Furthermore, the project sought to strengthen the participants’ social, personal, and communication skills. Through cooperation with elderly people, children, social institutions, and non-profit organisations, students developed empathy, tolerance, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility. Another important goal was the development of key competences such as independence, problem solving skills, intercultural competence, and digital skills. Students documented their experiences through VideoLogs and reflected on their learning process using the VIP Pass. Through international cooperation, young people also experienced European values such as solidarity, inclusion, respect, and active citizenship. They gained a deeper understanding of different realities of life and perspectives across Europe and learned the importance of cooperation and mutual understanding in a diverse European community.
Through the implementation of the Youth in Action project, we wanted to encourage young people to take responsibility for their communities and actively participate in social life. Students were given the opportunity to experience that their engagement can make a positive difference in the lives of others and that they have the power to initiate change themselves. One of the main objectives was to develop social and personal competences such as empathy, teamwork, communication skills, independence, and a sense of responsibility. By volunteering in social institutions, participating in environmental activities, and engaging in community projects, young people gained practical experience and applied their skills in real-life situations. Furthermore, we aimed to raise awareness of volunteering and civic engagement and to motivate participants to remain active in their communities in the long term. Through international cooperation, the project also promoted understanding of European values, cultural diversity, and active citizenship. Young people learned that solidarity, respect, and cooperation are essential foundations of a strong European community.
