The main objective of the project was to create a space where young people from Brussels and La Réunion could meet, with the aim of encouraging intercultural dialogue and addressing the issue of discrimination. To support this, we used slam as a tool for expression. This artistic approach allowed young people to talk about their experiences, their emotions, and sometimes sensitive topics in a more open and creative way. The project also aimed to help participants better understand the mechanisms behind discrimination and to reflect together on how they can respond to it in their daily lives. Another important objective was to bring together young people from different backgrounds. Even though Brussels and La Réunion are geographically very far apart, the participants realized that they often share similar realities. This exchange therefore helped develop listening, empathy, and mutual understanding. Finally, the project also aimed to strengthen personal and social skills such as self-confidence, communication, teamwork, and initiative. The idea was that these learnings would continue to have an impact even after the project ended, particularly within their communities and local organizations.
