We aim to enable youth workers, coordinators, and directors working in the field of youth to understand and adopt key media-related concepts and tools. We aspire to provide resources to combat misinformation spread by the media and to help young people become more aware of the information they receive. Our goal is to equip youth workers with the necessary knowledge so they can educate their audiences and raise awareness about media literacy. Additionally, we aim to sensitize participants to online communication and social media. We are collaborating to answer the following question: "How can we raise young people's awareness of the media and the information they convey?" We hope to help participants understand how they can adapt media literacy tools to their specific fields, particularly in the Youth and Socio-Cultural sectors. This training seminar is designed to be more practical than theoretical, allowing participants to experience the process firsthand through concrete experimentation before analyzing it. We will provide opportunities for exchanging best practices for those who are already familiar with and/or trained in this approach. Our goal is also to collectively adapt these tools to our realities—both within our teams and in our work with young people and families. We believe that a less top-down approach to participation—both within organizational structures and in how we engage with young people—encourages greater youth involvement. By first engaging and empowering youth workers, and then young people and their families, we aim to support their active role in shaping the programs and activities offered to them, ultimately encouraging them to take their place as active citizens. Objectives: Introduction to the topic Understanding different types of media Familiarization with key concepts Raising awareness among participants about media-related issues Prevention and intervention Strengthening participants’ skills in source verification Combating media biases and injustices Identifying fake news Raising awareness of the dangers of misinformation Understanding how false information and conspiracy theories emerge Developing critical thinking and the ability to analyze media content Creating and testing practical tools Exchanging experiences and best practices Applying tools in the daily practice of youth workers Promoting the Erasmus+ program and its objectives Strengthening our network of youth workers across Europe
