This project responds to an informal call for help shared by many youth workers who feel overwhelmed by the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and the sometimes risky ways young people are using it. These professionals recognize that if they do not adapt quickly, they risk being sidelined in a world where young people are already navigating the digital landscape with ease. At the same time, they see the immense potential AI offers to revitalize youth structures by creating engaging and innovative activities that could re-engage young people in educational and social spaces. This dual realization—of both challenges and opportunities—gave birth to this project. The seminar aims to transform youth work practices by equipping participants with concrete tools to integrate AI into their activities while fostering an ethical and critical approach. It will enable participants to explore the opportunities AI brings to youth work while reflecting on the challenges it poses, such as algorithmic bias and data privacy concerns. This project seeks to empower youth workers to transition from being passive observers to proactive leaders who can guide young people through this rapidly evolving digital world. The primary objective is to strengthen participants' skills by providing them with a deeper understanding of AI tools and enabling them to experiment with these technologies in their local contexts. By encouraging the exchange of best practices and the co-creation of new methodologies, the project will spark collective reflection on the future of youth work in the digital age. Additionally, the seminar will emphasize the dissemination of its learnings beyond the event itself. The participating organizations are committed to sharing the outcomes, tools, and approaches developed during the seminar with their local, regional, and international networks. This sharing will help ensure that the knowledge and practices are adopted more widely, thereby amplifying the project’s impact. In summary, this project was born out of an urgent need but is positioned as a proactive and positive initiative. It equips youth workers with the tools and competencies required to guide young people ethically, responsibly, and sustainably while adapting their practices to a constantly evolving digital reality.
