Objectives

Generation Democracy: Fostering youth-led participation to counteract right-wing extremism (Gen-D) is a 24-month project consisting of three consecutive and interrelated mobility activities. The project will engage young people from Austria, Italy, Spain and Germany in three different workshops to empower and support them to participate more actively in democracy. The main objective of the project is to increase young people's awareness on the importance of participating in democratic processes to actively address the rise of right-wing extremism in Europe. For this purpose, we will empower young people to actively counteract the rise of extremism that we have seen in the past years, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to be activists for democracy, the rule of law and human rights. The activities of the project are: 1. Active participation workshop: The workshop will involve 60 participants coming from the partners countries and it will be focused on exploring how to become active citizens and influence the decision-making process. 2. Advocacy and Policy-making Workshop: During this workshop, 30 participants will explore the importance of advocacy and campaigning in influencing the decision-making process and making their voice heard. 3. Anti-extremism gallery: To conclude the project, the 30 participants involved in the design of the Advocacy Campaign will come together in a physical exhibition of the campaign in Brussels. The objectives of the project are: •Train and provide resources, using non-formal education, to empower young people as advocates against political extremism, enhancing their skills in policy analysis, advocacy campaign creation and effective participation. •Identify and analyse the social issues that led to the rise of the extremism, fostering a deeper understanding of the social context in order to effectively engage them in the policy-making process. •Develop and promote innovative and sustainable outputs to increase the participation of young people, connecting research, policy making and social impact. •Recognise the importance of youth organisations in building a culture of youth participation in democratic life and promote the values of democracy, active citizenship, and social inclusion. •Raise awareness on the importance of integrating youth perspectives into policy-making processes, and build a pathway for organisations active in youth participation. The project intends that young people participating in the activities become advocates to counteract right-wing extremism, enhancing their skills in policy analysis, advocacy campaign creation and effective participation. We want to increase young people's participation in the countries part of the consortium and in Europe, by training young people on different forms of participation and by creating a guide for other organisations that want to engage young people in democratic and participatory processes. Furthermore, the project seeks to raise awareness of the problem of the rise of right-wing extremism, and to counteract it through democratic means of participation, strengthening the European values of participation, democracy and respect for human rights.
