We aim to explore two key aspects of youth work. First, we want to understand the role youth workers can play in fostering a 'community of caring': How can they strengthen peer support, identify mental health challenges early, and encourage young people to pay greater attention to each other's mental well-being? Second, we seek to create more space for the core essence of youth work: 'having fun together' without the need for direct measurable impact. We aim to address the risk of overly instrumentalizing youth work for solving societal issues, ensuring youth workers have the freedom to make a difference in their unique way. Additionally, we want to empower them to prioritize fun in their initiatives and effectively communicate this vision to policymakers and grant providers. Our objectives are as follows: 1. To encourage en strengthen youth workers to (re)create more space for fun. - Strengthen youth workers' vision on open youth work. - Support youth workers to translate their vision into their own youth work practice. - Give youth workers language to involve policy makers to create space for open youth work. 2. To nurture and strengthen youth workers to connect young people in a community of caring. - To inspire youth workers to create a 'community of caring' within their youth work practice. - To refresh, renew and broaden the knowledge and vision on the topic 'mental wellbeing'. 3. To set up new (international) partnerships between Flemish and Italian youth work organizations. Additionally, we aim to create an ideal learning environment for participants. This will include ample time for reflection, the development of personal growth plans, and a structured learning group system to help them address their individual learning goals. To ensure the learning process continues beyond the study visit, we will organize follow-up activities such as a come-back session, individual follow-ups and sessions about the output of the learning groups and the impact of the personal development plans.
