Objectives

Care on children’s farms has become an increasingly relevant topic in recent times. All children’s farms across Europe have noticed a rise in care-related requests. It is not always easy to provide an appropriate response to these, and the need for exchange on this topic has become very clear. By organizing this exchange, we aimed to bring together different children’s farms around the theme of care, to take the time to share experiences and inspire one another. Beyond the theme itself, we also wanted to maintain existing partnerships between the farms and create learning opportunities for youth workers. In addition, we wanted to highlight the important social role that children’s farms play in society. More concretely, we set the following goals: Knowledge sharing: * Exchange of good practices and innovative care methods * Inspire participants to develop new care initiatives Skills development: * Improve the competences of volunteers and staff members * Reflect on the role of children’s farms in care programs and how this role can be strengthened Connection and networking: maintain an international network of children’s farms Community impact * Provide inspiration on accessibility of children’s farms for vulnerable target groups * Provide inspiration on inclusion and well-being Innovation: * Introduce new ideas about care in a natural environment* Learn about methods such as animal-assisted therapy and nature-based care
