Through exchange between organisations from different contexts, but with the shared vision that arts and culture can bring about social change, we want to teach youth workers how to engage and empower young people to make them the actors of new processes in the cultural field. Specifically, this project aims to strengthen the skills of youth workers and volunteers from participating organisations by developing innovative, inclusive and sustainable youth spaces and offering methodological training for youth workers. We want to encourage young people to become active participants, creators and entrepreneurs in the cultural sector. Moreover, we want to ensure that these places and methodologies emerge and are applicable in both urban and rural areas. We try to give our partners in rural areas tools to reach and engage more youth. With this project, we aim to conduct an initial exploration of a youth work methodology applicable in a wide range of organisations that support the development of interdisciplinary and intergenerational places/hubs, creating a viable solution to the urban-rural divide that leads to brain drain in rural areas. We use this project as a first step towards our vision to develop a European network of youth centres, cultural institutions and creative hubs working with a common methodology to give young people a place and a voice in the cultural-social field. Inspired in part by New European Bauhaus, we want to make these places sustainable, inclusive and beautiful to the (artistic) eye.
