Objectives

Our project aims to empower young people by equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to actively participate in democratic life and civic activism. Through a participatory learning approach, non-formal education methods, and experiential learning, we will enable young people to engage in social change, advocate for their causes, and take initiative in their communities. The project is designed to help youth understand both traditional and alternative forms of youth participation, explore tools for civic engagement, and put them into practice. Objectives from the perspective of youth work practice: Enhancing youth participation and civic engagement: Raise awareness about different forms of youth participation, from voting and youth councils to grassroots activism, digital advocacy, and direct action. Provide youth with practical tools to express their opinions and engage in democratic processes at local, national, and European levels. Encourage youth to develop and implement their own initiatives addressing social and political issues that matter to them. Developing key competences through non-formal education and experiential learning: Improve leadership, advocacy, and communication skills through workshops, debates, and interactive activities. Strengthen participants' critical thinking and problem-solving skills by analyzing case studies and developing action plans for social change. Promote digital literacy and media awareness, helping participants navigate online activism and identify misinformation. Promoting youth-led action and long-term sustainability: Encourage youth to initiate their own projects (solidarity projects, campaigns, petitions, etc.) based on the knowledge and inspiration gained during the exchange. Establish a network of engaged young activists who will continue to support and inspire one another even after the project ends. Support participants in applying for European funding opportunities (European Solidarity Corps, DiscoverEU, Erasmus+ youth projects) to further develop their ideas. Fostering inclusion and diversity in youth participation: Ensure the project is accessible to young people from different backgrounds, including those from rural areas, ethnic minorities, and disadvantaged communities. Address barriers to youth participation by creating a safe space for all voices to be heard and including diverse perspectives in discussions. Promote intersectionality in activism, highlighting the connections between social justice issues and encouraging cross-sector collaboration. Encouraging active follow-up and dissemination of results: Participants will be supported to implement local initiatives, using the knowledge and strategies developed during the exchange. A Youth Participation Handbook will be created, summarizing best practices, tools, and methods used during the project, and shared via SALTO, Erasmus+ platforms, and social media. Participants will create and share digital content (social media posts, videos, blogs) to spread awareness and inspire more young people to get involved in civic activism. By implementing this project, we aim to equip young people with the necessary tools and motivation to become changemakers in their communities and beyond. Through non-formal education, peer learning, and real-life engagement, they will gain confidence in their ability to influence decisions and take action for a better society.
