Objectives

The project was created and designed to address the current digitally dominated reality among young people across Europe, who are progressively affected by physical inactivity, social disconnection, and declining mental health. The research presented in the Application outlined the need for more comprehensive approaches to complex challenges, such as the balance between digital and physical experiences, social isolation, limited civic engagement, insufficient innovative mental health strategies, and long-term solutions for well-being. Moving to the Core aimed to address the growing social disconnection and declining physical health and mental well-being among young people and to equip youth workers with tools to address those needs in a holistic, mindful, and embodied way. The specific objectives supported participants with: - gaining an evidence-based technique for holistic body-based practices and contact improvisation - increasing body awareness and physical health - fostering authentic connection and cultivating a sense of community - understanding in-depth physical connections and non-verbal communication - enhancing intercultural understanding - cultivating self-awareness, personal development, and self-expression - developing a mindful approach to the digital world, while enhancing digital skills - promoting physical and mental well-being among the young people they work with - applying tools, concepts, and methods to their local youth work To ensure that the learning would not stop at the end of the training and that the project’s impact could be sufficiently measured, we established specific success indicators, based on the set objectives: - At least 90% of the participants have reported enhanced competencies in mental and physical health, sense of connection and community, and youth support - At the same time, at least 50% of the participants have reported highly and substantially enhanced competencies - At least 8 local follow-up workshops by participants with 80+ attendees - Creation of 3 podcast episodes with key learnings and tools with 100+ views/plays within the first 4 months - At least 8 reels produced by participants with 4000+ views across social media platforms - Creation of 10 activity visuals (infographics) with 1000+ views across social media platforms For the report, the reels and activity visuals are referred to as digital outputs, measured and analysed together. The achievement of the set objectives and aims contributed to improving the quality and impact of youth work practices, equipping youth workers with innovative approaches that go beyond traditional non-formal education methods. As our evaluation and impact assessment confirmed, developing body-based self-awareness and enhancing interpersonal connections can be crucial when working with mental health and well-being among young people, personally and professionally.
