The Thanks That We Can Academy offers high school and college students from across the country a nonformal education in civic activism through five interconnected sessions on the themes of self-discovery, activation, participation, innovation and collaboration. The first goal is for participants to become civically active in their neighborhoods, learn tools for participation, not be afraid to voice their opinions, invent their own projects involving technology, but also collaborate with each other, across age groups, fields, regions and schools. The second goal is that participants at the Academy not only find collaborators for their projects, but also build personal relationships, make friends and become part of a community of young people with values of solidarity and cohesion, who are socially active, see the importance of freedom and democracy and can support each other.
