The project ECO-HEROES was designed to bring together young people from different countries to explore environmental challenges and to encourage active participation in promoting sustainable lifestyles. The main aim of the project was to strengthen environmental awareness among young people and empower them to become more responsible and proactive in addressing ecological issues both locally and globally. One of the key objectives of the project was to provide participants with knowledge and practical tools to better understand topics such as sustainability, environmental responsibility, climate change, and the impact of individual behaviour on the environment. Through interactive workshops, discussions, and group activities, participants were able to explore these topics from different perspectives and reflect on their own role in protecting the environment. Another important objective was to develop participants' competences in communication and advocacy related to ecological issues. The project focused on helping young people learn how to effectively raise awareness about environmental challenges among their peers and within their communities. Participants worked in international teams to design small awareness campaigns and create social media content addressing environmental topics. This approach helped them develop creative thinking, digital communication skills, and the ability to translate complex ecological ideas into engaging and accessible messages. The project also aimed to promote intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding among young people from different cultural and social backgrounds. By living, learning, and working together during the youth exchange, participants had the opportunity to share their experiences, perspectives, and environmental practices from their home countries. This intercultural dimension helped participants better understand global environmental challenges and see how local actions can contribute to wider positive change. Another objective of the project was to support the development of key competences among participants, including teamwork, leadership, creativity, initiative, and problem-solving. Through non-formal learning methods such as simulations, group work, reflection sessions, and creative workshops, participants strengthened their ability to collaborate and actively contribute to group processes. The project also encouraged participants to take ownership of their learning experience. Young people were actively involved in shaping parts of the programme, leading sessions, and presenting their ideas and projects to the group. This approach supported youth participation and helped participants gain confidence in expressing their opinions and presenting their ideas. In addition, the project aimed to motivate participants to continue environmental engagement after the mobility. By equipping them with practical ideas, tools, and inspiration, the project encouraged participants to initiate or support environmental actions in their local communities, schools, or youth organisations. The concept of "Eco-Heroes" symbolised young people who take responsibility for the environment and inspire others to adopt more sustainable behaviours. The project sought to combine environmental education, intercultural learning, and youth empowerment. By providing a safe and supportive environment for learning, creativity, and collaboration, the project enabled participants to develop new knowledge, skills, and attitudes that can contribute to a more sustainable future.
