A series of international youth exchange projects is planned, initiated by the Prora Documentation Center, started with the first project and subsequently continued by the respective partner institutions: Las Niñas del Tul, Nikolaus-Lena-Lyzeum, Gimnazija Nova Gorica, and Hansa-Gymnasium Stralsund, and perhaps later by new European partners. The project was aimed at young people between the ages of 17 and 24 from Nova Gorica, Stralsund, Granada, and Timișoara/Temeswar. For the first project, "Remembrance Meets Future," we were able to attract partners from Western and Eastern Europe. We explored political and historical topics related to Nazi history and the ideology of exclusion and persecution, the history of the Berlin Wall during the GDR era, overcoming borders on various levels, dealing with the Nazi past in democratic and unified Germany, and cultural diversity as an enrichment. A multi-perspective approach to these topics was crucial to us. The focus of this project, and the following projects as well, was on historical analysis and the culture of remembrance, and we wanted to jointly explore what unites us all. Thematically, the project addressed remembrance as a constructive element for the future, encounters with history in everyday life, the coexistence of ethnic and religious minorities, and measures to promote democracy.
