The main objective of the project was to strengthen the town twinning between Witzenhausen and Olvera in Andalusia by enabling young people from both towns to learn about the twinning activities, interact with people from the twinned town, and, ideally, make friends. The aim was to strengthen the young people's civic engagement and their openness towards Europe. They learn that their own involvement at the local level strengthens the community at the European level. They overcome their inhibitions about approaching people from different cultural backgrounds. Their desire for encounter and mobility is accommodated. The project aimed to strengthen the young people's ability to work in a team by challenging them to achieve goals and gain experience together. We counted our steps in an app and approached each other “step by step.” Together, we wanted to take the steps needed to overcome the geographical distance between Witzenhausen and Olvera. The young people learn in a real and figurative way how to approach each other. In addition, the young people’s digital skills were enhanced by learning and practising how to present their experiences in an engaging way to the public.
