The project "Inspire Inform Perform" was developed as a direct response to the urgent challenges outlined in the EU Green Deal. Our primary goal was to address the critical need for systemic change in our society to ease the escalating risks of climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource depletion. We recognized that if these issues are not addressed immediately, they will have severe and adverse effects on multiple generations, specifically our current and future youth. Despite a growing global awareness of environmental issues, we identified that younger generations still lack concrete guidance—particularly career-wise—to become the leaders who will replace the unsustainable economic system we currently inhabit. Through this project, we aimed to empower them to be actively involved in community activities for mutual positive change. To achieve this, our project successfully tackled several interconnected issues and needs: 1. Lack of environmental awareness: We addressed the fact that many young people have a limited understanding of the instruments required to foster systemic change. We taught that the Earth is an intricate system comprising natural capital, local communities, and their livelihoods. We worked to raise awareness and educate youth about the vital importance of systematically shifting to a greener economic system. 2. Linking youth career journeys and nature protection: Recognizing that urbanization and digitalization have created a disconnect between young people and the natural world, we focused on reconnecting them with nature. This was essential for fostering a sense of responsibility that participants can now carry into their professional career paths. 3. Limited access to non-formal environmental education: We filled the gap left by traditional educational systems that often lack comprehensive environmental curricula. By providing non-formal, experiential learning, we gave youth complementary opportunities to develop skills related to environmental sustainability that they cannot get in a standard classroom. To reach these goals, we set and realized the following six objectives: • Raise environmental awareness: We successfully increased the knowledge and understanding of a broad range of environmental issues covered by the EU Green Deal, including climate change, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable resource management among participants from Germany, Armenia, Italy, and Georgia. • Promote sustainable practices: We encouraged and empowered participants to adopt and promote sustainable behaviors in their home communities, such as waste reduction, energy conservation, and eco-friendly consumption patterns, while also integrating the benefits of digitalization. • Foster connection with nature: We provided tangible opportunities for participants to reconnect with nature through outdoor activities, environmental excursions, and hands-on experiences in natural settings in Stepanavan and Gyumri. • Empower youth leadership and active community involvement: We equipped participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become effective sustainability multipliers in their schools, communities, and beyond. • Fostering greener career paths: We shared high-quality information and first-hand experiences to help youth succeed in finding "green jobs" as officially defined by the International Labour Organization (ILO), bridging the gap between activism and employment. • Enlarge international cooperation and networking: We successfully built a network of like-minded individuals and organizations, creating a foundation for follow-up projects and thematic continuations based on the real needs of the participants. By realizing these objectives, "Inspire Inform Perform" has successfully empowered a new generation of environmentally conscious and active global citizens who are now performing as motivated advocates for a sustainable and resilient future.
