Objectives

The "Watch the Red Line – Awareness of Radicalisation in Society" project aims to empower young people with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to recognize, prevent, and counter radicalization and extremism in their communities. By fostering awareness of human rights, democratic values, and socio-political trends in Europe, this youth exchange will strengthen critical thinking, civic engagement, and non-violent communication. The project’s objectives align with key priorities in youth work practice, particularly in promoting active citizenship, inclusion, and intercultural dialogue. Recognizing the vulnerability of youth to radical ideologies—whether political, religious, or social—the project seeks to counteract extremist narratives through education, awareness-raising, and practical engagement. Through the "Watch the Red Line" project, young participants will gain a comprehensive perspective on the dangers of radicalization while acquiring practical tools to foster peace, inclusion, and resilience within their communities. Objectives of "WRL" are: - to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the root causes, mechanisms, and consequences of radicalization, examining real-life cases from across Europe; - to explore different types of extremism (right-wing, left-wing, religious, ideological) and how they manifest in various socio-political contexts; - to equip young people with tools and methods to identify individuals at risk of radicalization and engage them in constructive discussions; - to improve young people's media literacy skills to critically analyze propaganda, disinformation, and manipulation used by extremist groups, to foster the ability to distinguish between free speech and hate speech, developing strategies to counter misinformation; - to empower youth with communication and dialogue techniques to express opinions constructively and resolve conflicts peacefully; - to ensure participants understand their rights and responsibilities within a democratic society, particularly in the context of activism, protests, and online discourse; - to provide knowledge on EU legal frameworks, policies on radicalization prevention, and mechanisms for reporting hate speech and extremist activities. - to encourage youth to engage their communities through social media campaigns, thematic events, and creative initiatives to promote democratic values and social cohesion. By addressing these objectives, the project will: - foster a generation of young leaders equipped to counter radicalization and extremist influences; - enhance intercultural understanding and dialogue among youth from diverse backgrounds; - strengthen European solidarity and democratic engagement by empowering youth to take an active role in shaping their societies. In conclusion, through the "Watch the Red Line" project, young participants will gain a comprehensive perspective on the dangers of radicalization while acquiring practical tools to foster peace, inclusion, and resilience within their communities.
