Objectives

The project “SafeClicks: Navigating the Digital World Responsibly” was implemented in response to the increasing challenges that young people face in the digital environment. The rapid growth of social media and online communication has created new opportunities for learning and participation but it has also increased exposure to cyberbullying, misinformation, privacy breaches, online scams and other digital risks. These challenges affect young people's confidence, well-being and ability to participate safely in online spaces. The project was developed to help young people better understand these risks and provide them with practical tools for navigating the digital world responsibly. The project brought together 48 people from Germany, Serbia, North Macedonia, Türkiye, Croatia and Sweden including 24 participants with fewer opportunities. Many participants came from backgrounds where access to digital literacy education and international learning opportunities was limited. Through non-formal learning methods and intercultural cooperation, the project created a space where participants could exchange experiences, discuss common digital challenges and learn from different realities across Europe. One of the main objectives was to increase awareness of online privacy and cybersecurity. Participants were encouraged to understand how personal data is collected and shared online and how they can better protect themselves when using digital platforms. Another important objective was to improve participants ability to identify misinformation, fake news, manipulated content, phishing attempts and other online threats that have become increasingly common in everyday digital life. The project also aimed to strengthen critical thinking skills and support young people in becoming more responsible consumers and creators of online content. Participants were encouraged to question information sources, evaluate credibility and make informed decisions before sharing content online. Promoting ethical digital behaviour and responsible online participation was another key objective of the project. Inclusion was an important priority throughout the project. Special attention was given to empowering participants with fewer opportunities by improving their confidence, digital competences and active participation in international learning environments. At the same time, the project aimed to strengthen intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding and cooperation between young people from different countries and cultural backgrounds. Another major objective was to encourage participants to become multipliers within their local communities. Through the development of awareness campaigns, educational materials and digital content, participants were encouraged to share the knowledge gained during the exchange and contribute to creating safer and more informed online communities. Overall, the project aimed to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to navigate the digital world safely while promoting active citizenship, digital responsibility, inclusion and intercultural cooperation.
