Our project #RUV: Revolution of the Unheard Voices is aimed at young people who live in disadvantaged urban environments and do not normally participate in international programmes of this kind. Our mission is to give these young people a voice and encourage them to speak openly about their everyday lives and social realities. In this way, we aim to create greater intercultural and inter-social awareness and encourage a sense of solidarity among the participants. Dreaming OPEnly has been working successfully with the medium of hip-hop for several years now, and we are particularly impressed by its potential to address the desired target group, its interweaving with socio-political issues and its potential as a means of self-empowerment and creative expression in non-formal educational contexts. Our work aims to create safe and meaningful learning spaces where young people can engage in non-violent communication and behaviour. Hip-hop as a medium for empowerment and social change We want to draw attention to the history of hip-hop culture, which is much more than just a music genre. It is a multifaceted youth culture steeped in empowerment, community and social integration. Hip-hop tells the story of resistance and resilience - of communities finding solace, strength and support in artistic collaboration. #RUV: Revolution of the Unheard Voices aims to emphasise this positive core of hip-hop and counteract the spread of violent, hateful and unhealthy messages that are unfortunately often found in mainstream hip-hop culture. And are often particularly prevalent among young people from marginalised socio-economic backgrounds. We want to reflect on and deconstruct these negative messages, as well as issues such as social exclusion, discrimination, racism, sexism and poverty, with the participants. Our aim is to awaken the original power of hip-hop as a form of expression - an art form that can serve as a catalyst for change. #RUV: Revolution of the Unheard Voices aims to empower young people to use creativity as a tool for empowerment, solidarity and social justice, encouraging young people to become more actively involved in society and take a role in creating positive change. #RUV: Revolution of the Unheard Voices is therefore not just a project, but a call to action. We want to give young people the opportunity to share their own experiences and perspectives through hip-hop, dance, graffiti and rap, recognising how their voices can contribute to greater social change. Dreaming OPEnly's activities aim to effect change in individuals and society through the transformative power of art. Especially in the current times when young generations are facing enormous challenges, it is crucial to find solutions to the collective crisis. Through art and creative expression, we can not only make young people aware of the social problems that affect them, but also provide a space for creative exploration of these issues. In this context, the aims of the project are to: 1- Empower young people by encouraging them and giving them the tools to express themselves through art 2- Use hip-hop culture to reflect and deconstruct issues such as discrimination, racism, social exclusion, poverty, sexism, frustration, etc. 3- Raise awareness of the social and political power of artistic expression 4- Bring together young people who share the same passion through a common creative process 5- Identifying different ways for young people to participate and be active in society 6- Empowering young people and improving their foreign language skills through an intercultural learning experience 7- Raising awareness of European projects and EU values.
