Objectives

"Verse & Vision" was created in response to a growing need among young people to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and find healthy ways of coping with uncertainty and crisis. Through our daily youth work, we observed that many young people, especially those affected by war, migration, social exclusion, or difficult socio-economic situations, experience anxiety about the future, pressure to succeed, and a lack of spaces where they can safely express themselves. The main objective of the project was to create a safe and inclusive intercultural environment where young people could explore resilience through artistic expression. Inspired by Weimar's cultural heritage, the Bauhaus philosophy, German Romanticism, and a connection to nature, we invited participants to discover art as a tool for mindfulness, observation, introspection, and mental wellbeing. We wanted to show that art is not reserved for professionals or people who study it formally. One of the central ideas of the project was that everyone can be an artist, regardless of their background, previous experience, or level of confidence. The project also aimed to strengthen participants' creative identity, intercultural competences, and sense of belonging by bringing together young people from Germany, Greece, and Ukraine. Through shared artistic processes, peer learning, and reflection, participants were encouraged to exchange perspectives, learn from each other's realities, and build meaningful connections. At the same time, we wanted to make art more accessible beyond the project itself. Therefore, participants worked on common artistic outcomes, including a series of videos and therater performances that we collected into an separate web page - digital anthology, allowing them to share their reflections on resilience and everyday beauty with wider local communities. Overall, the project aimed to demonstrate that artistic practices can become simple and accessible tools that young people can continue using in their daily lives to support their mental wellbeing, self-expression, and personal resilience in uncertain times.
