Europe Project Days 2025 addressed the opportunities and risks of social media and the influence of artificial intelligence and data use on young people. The starting point was the observation that digital media shape communication, access to information and social participation, while also raising questions about disinformation, data protection, algorithmic decisions and the responsible use of digital content. The youth exchange combined the topics of artificial intelligence and data use, digital skills and competences, and European identity, citizenship and values. These topics remained unchanged compared with the application. The project aimed to provide young people with a safe international learning environment in which they could reflect on their own media use, encounter different perspectives and develop well-founded positions. They were expected to examine critically how social media and artificial intelligence work and affect people, weigh opportunities against risks, and develop their own ideas for responsible everyday digital practices. At the same time, cooperation in internationally mixed groups was intended to strengthen communication skills, teamwork, openness and intercultural competence. In terms of content, the project was linked to European Youth Goal 4, "Information and Constructive Dialogue". It combined the examination of digital information spaces with European core values: topics such as hate speech, disinformation and the spread of extremist narratives in social media were explicitly addressed. Another focus was the active participation of young people. They were not only to receive information, but also to contribute their experiences in discussions, working groups and their own contributions, express their views and develop proposals for solutions. German was the project language, with English used to support communication when necessary. This was also intended to provide authentic language practice. The results were intended to be carried beyond the exchange week into the respective groups and local contexts.
