Objectives

Hate speech, both online and offline, poses a serious threat to democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. It particularly targets marginalized groups like LGBT individuals and refugees. Despite ongoing efforts by the European Commission and initiatives like Germany’s "Gemeinsam gegen Hass im Netz" campaign, there is still no EU-wide legal framework to criminalize hate speech. Recognizing this issue, the project aims to combat hate speech through the transformative power of dance. By engaging youth from diverse countries, the project will raise awareness and challenge harmful stereotypes using dance as an expressive and inclusive medium. Key needs identified through youth discussions include educating about hate speech, promoting intercultural communication, and learning from successful initiatives in other countries. Project Objectives: Raise awareness of hate speech, human rights, cultural diversity, and democracy among 36 participants. Enhance participants' choreographic skills to use dance as a tool against online hate speech, discrimination, and racism. Encourage youth to become active citizens and advocates for human rights. Through non-formal education activities, this project aligns with the European Youth Strategy by promoting inclusivity, equality, and civic engagement while strengthening cooperation among youth organizations and stakeholders.
