The Game-X-Change project aims to use gaming as an educational medium in international youth work to promote intercultural exchange, digital education and social inclusion. It is aimed specifically at young adults with socio-economic barriers from Germany, France and Bosnia-Herzegovina and enables them to engage in an open dialog through joint gaming, in which they can learn from each other and develop their personal and professional skills. A central aim of the project is to strengthen intercultural exchange by bringing together young people from different social and cultural backgrounds. Gaming serves as a common basis for breaking down barriers and creating a low-threshold learning environment. Shared gaming experiences not only create connections between the participants, but also spaces for reflection in which topics such as identity formation, digital culture and social challenges can be viewed from different perspectives. The project also specifically promotes digital skills and media education. Participants learn to critically reflect on video games and deal with questions about the representation of reality, stereotypes and social norms in games. A central element of the project is the creation of a Twitch channel, which functions as a virtual meeting space and will be used as a platform for international exchange beyond the duration of the project. By designing and moderating this channel, the young people acquire valuable skills in the areas of content creation, community management and digital communication, which can open up new educational and career prospects for them in the long term. In addition to the digital aspects, the project places particular emphasis on the personal development of the participants. Workshops, discussions and excursions are used to strengthen soft skills such as teamwork, intercultural communication and personal responsibility as well as technical skills in the field of streaming and digital media production. At the same time, the project provides a platform to promote active citizenship by encouraging young people to engage with socially relevant issues and share their experiences with their peers. By combining gaming and intercultural exchange, Game-X-Change creates an innovative learning environment in which young adults not only expand their digital skills, but also gain new perspectives on social and cultural issues. The project uses the young people's living environment as a starting point to actively involve them in the design, strengthen their self-confidence and offer them long-term opportunities for networking and further education.
