Objectives

The project is rooted in the growing societal and personal challenges faced by young people aged 16 to 26 across Europe. The long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, combined with ongoing crises such as the war in Ukraine and rising living costs, have contributed to increasing uncertainty and pessimism among young people regarding their future. Many feel that their life prospects will be worse than those of previous generations. At the same time, there is a strong perception of inequality, particularly in relation to social background, income, housing, wealth, and career opportunities. Despite these challenges, young people demonstrate a strong sense of European identity and express a clear desire for greater unity within Europe. This project builds on this positive foundation by aiming to strengthen this sense of belonging while empowering young people to actively shape their own realities and communities. The project follows a holistic approach, based on the understanding that human development is influenced by the interaction of psychological, social, and physical systems. In order to achieve sustainable impact, all three dimensions are addressed: personal reflection, interpersonal communication, and physical engagement. Sport is used as an accessible and inclusive tool to foster interaction, trust-building, and experiential learning. Within a eight-day programme, participants are encouraged to explore their personal limits, embrace challenges, and develop both individual and collective solutions. Through non-formal education methods, they acquire key competences such as self-efficacy, communication, teamwork, and systems thinking. The project provides practical tools that enable participants to strengthen their agency and apply their learning within their local communities. Furthermore, the project aims to enhance participants’ understanding of societal systems and empower them to become active and responsible actors in democratic, social, and economic structures. It contributes to the implementation of the European Youth Goals (2019–2027) by encouraging young people to actively participate in shaping society and driving positive change. In the long term, the project seeks to improve participants’ personal development, social inclusion, and career perspectives, while generating a sustainable positive impact on their local communities and fostering stronger European cohesion.
