Objectives

There is no planet B! The list of ecological problems is endless. More and more scientific reports are warning of the urgency to act. Climate change and environmental degradation pose an existential threat to the whole world. Climate issues are increasingly in the news, as droughts, floods, energy shortages, etc. Each new generation is the same age as its predecessor, but more concerned about climate issues. All over Europe, young people are mobilising and getting involved in various forms of environmental activism. This mobilisation, as well as the high turnout of young people in the European elections, is making visible a European youth that is convinced of the reality and severity of climate change and is pointing out the political inaction. However, it must also be noted that young people's engagement on environmental issues shows socio-demographic differences. The majority of young people who are engaged are young people from higher social classes, who are pursuing higher education, have a stable situation, especially in their professional lives, and whose parents are already politicised. Our project idea arose from this observation: to bring together young people from Germany, France and Morocco with a less privileged family background to enable them to engage in non-formal and informal learning in an international environment. The main objective of the project is to support young people from three countries to become more actively involved in civil society at the local and/or regional level for a sustainable future, to become an agent of change for sustainable development, environmental protection and international cooperation. The project will enable young people to get to know each other, develop a deeper understanding of the environmental crisis, its causes and consequences, get to know the culture and everyday life in the three countries, and mobilise young people and strengthen their ability to get actively involved. In addition to the objectives related to sustainable development, our project has the following goals: - to bring together participants from European and non-European countries, in particular from Morocco, to promote diversity and shared values; - to create a participatory, intercultural and multilingual framework to establish links between young people from the north and south of the Mediterranean; - deepening knowledge of the three participating countries (culture, history, society, etc.); - discussion and exchange about the everyday lives of young people; - awareness of cultural influences on one's own thinking, behaviour and reactions; - questioning and recognising that certain realities that young people consider normal differ from country to country; show participants ways in which they can get involved as (European) citizens and encourage them to see themselves as full participants in the present and the future; - raise awareness of how to go from motivation to concrete civic engagement and generate new ideas on how to take action for the environment at the local level; - improve the social and intercultural skills of young participants, as well as their ability to understand today's society; - increase the participants' sense of independence and responsibility; - enable European mobility for all interested young people, including those who encounter obstacles (e.g. financial obstacles); - test new communication strategies; - to value all the languages of the participants and to discover and practise foreign languages through language animation sequences; - to design and create documentation of the meeting through creative means and to subsequently disseminate the results of the week in order to add value to the work and mobility experience of each individual
