Objectives

Our project "PEACE: Promoting Equality and Cooperation in Europe" brought together 50 young people from six countries to strengthen intercultural understanding, human rights awareness, and active European citizenship among a diverse group of participants, many of them facing social, economic, or geographical barriers. Young people across Europe face challenges such as cultural divisions, generational differences, and social polarisation. The rise of misinformation, discrimination, and declining trust in democratic institutions threatens the cohesion of European society as well as young people's participation in civic life. Our project set out to address three key issues: the presence of cultural, intergenerational, and social differences; a lack of awareness of human rights and democratic values; and weak European identity and civic engagement among young people. The core objectives of our project were: - To overcome cultural and social differences among participants from diverse cultural backgrounds through direct, sustained contact during the exchange - To raise awareness and knowledge among participants about human rights and democratic principles through interactive, non-formal methods and best practices - To encourage participants to engage in social causes and become active citizens who recognise the importance of European unity and democratic values - To develop participants' social and civic skills while providing them with practical tools to address prejudice, discrimination, and polarisation - To create digital and educational resources, including at least 10 short videos and posters and at least 15 participant-generated recommendations, to raise awareness about the project's theme beyond the group itself - To produce a brochure documenting the exchange experience, to be shared with youth organisations and stakeholders to encourage further engagement - To establish a supportive environment that fosters an ongoing network of young activists committed to democratic values and social inclusion These objectives were pursued through a youth exchange held in Golden Sands (Varna), Bulgaria, from 28 November to 7 December 2025, with participants coming from Germany, Bulgaria, Türkiye, Spain, Italy, and Romania.
