Objective 1: Promotion of intercultural understanding A central objective of the project was to promote intercultural understanding between the participating young people from Germany and Poland. Through direct exchange, students from different cultural and social backgrounds came together and were able to gain experience in an intercultural learning environment. Joint projects and activities – such as workshops, group discussions and cultural events – enabled the participants to become more aware of cultural differences, reduce prejudices, and develop tolerance and mutual respect. In this way, they learned to recognise and appreciate the diversity of Europe. This objective is fully in line with the priorities of the Erasmus+ Programme, particularly the promotion of mobility, intercultural competences and mutual understanding as key competences for the future. Objective 2: Strengthening language competences Another key focus of the project was the promotion of the participants’ language skills. Through daily interaction with partners from another country, the young people had the opportunity to use and further develop their foreign language skills in authentic communication situations. This not only contributed to improving their language competence, but also strengthened their self-confidence in oral communication. Language learning took place both through structured activities such as language exercises, presentations and group work, as well as through informal conversations in everyday situations. These practical learning experiences correspond to the Erasmus+ objective of promoting multilingualism and support the participants in the long term in both their educational and future professional lives. Objective 3: Development of social and personal competences The project also aimed to strengthen the social and personal competences of the participants. By working together in international groups, the students developed skills such as teamwork, communication, responsibility and empathy. They learned how to overcome challenges together, deal constructively with conflicts and take responsibility within a group. At the same time, staying in a new environment fostered their independence and adaptability. These experiences contribute to the personal development of the young people and prepare them for an active role in an increasingly globalised society. The promotion of social inclusion and active citizenship is a core objective of the Erasmus+ Programme. Objective 4: Strengthening European values and identity An overarching objective of the project was to raise awareness of European values and to strengthen a shared European identity among the participants. By engaging with topics such as democracy, human rights, solidarity and diversity, the young people broadened their cultural horizons and reflected on the relevance of these values in their own lives. Already during the preparation phase, the participants were encouraged to reflect on European values and discuss their importance in everyday life. During the youth exchange, these topics were further explored and deepened through various activities. In the long term, the project contributes to strengthening European cohesion and encourages young people to see themselves as active and responsible European citizens.
