Despite the progress in promoting tolerance, dignity, and peace in Europe, young Europeans continue to face discrimination and conflicts based on various aspects of their identities. The rise of rights-oriented parties and ongoing armed conflicts exacerbate the problem of "othering" and perpetuate prejudices and hostilities. Historical conflicts also influence perceptions between nations. Recent research by the European Commission highlights alarming levels of discrimination based on ethnicity, gender identity, religion, and sexual orientation. In response to these challenges, planIMPACT and Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (YPAN) decided to create educational spaces for young people to learn about each other's identities, break stereotypes, and foster a culture of peace, tolerance, and democracy in Europe. AIM: To empower 25 youth workers, leaders, and activists and equip them with the skills, knowledge, competencies, and tools in nonviolent conflict transformation, intercultural understanding, and combating othering in order to act as multipliers on the local level and promote a culture of peace. OBJECTIVES: - To equip participants with the knowledge on concepts of peace, peacebuilding, violence, conflict, nonviolence, and culture of peace; - To foster understanding and importance of conflict transformation in theory and practice; - To introduce participants to the different conflict transformation tools such as Nonviolent Communication, empathy, active listening, and alternative narratives; - To explore various conflict analysis tools and examine local realities and narratives in participants’ respective communities; - To practice and understand different ways of implementing conflict transformation in practice; - To explore the connection between personal and social identities and conflict transformation. - To challenge othering, stereotypes, and prejudices through intercultural learning and open dialogue; - To analyze the consequences of othering on individuals and communities and its role in conflicts; - To foster an understanding of cultural diversity and its role in building a culture of peace. - To plan at least 6 follow-up activities addressing local conflicts and promoting their transformation; - To facilitate creating a booklet of stories of transformative narratives as educational materials for combating othering and fostering a culture of peace - To establish a safe and inclusive environment among participants for open dialogue and future collaboration on a pan-European level;
