Objectives

The project “I Am My Own Symbol of Freedom” aimed to inspire and empower youth workers and new trainers to explore their potential and enhance their professional competences through creative and participatory learning. The main goal was to introduce and practice the Loesje method “School of Freedom”, a non-formal educational approach that allows participants to take ownership of their learning, share knowledge, and collaborate in a supportive environment. Through this project, we wanted to strengthen participants’ facilitation, workshop design, presentation, and communication skills, while also motivating them to lead workshops on topics they are passionate about. The project focused on transforming each participant into both a learner and a workshop giver, promoting active participation, creativity, and self-confidence. Our objectives were: - To share and practically experience the School of Freedom method. - To help participants develop practical competences in leading workshops and using creative non-formal education tools. - To build a strong international network of youth workers and trainers who continue to collaborate and exchange good practices - To produce concrete results, including a handbook of over 30 workshops created by participants and a short documentary “Dream of Freedom.” The project responded to the need for innovative learning methods that empower individuals to take initiative and co-create knowledge. By implementing it, we aimed to improve the quality of youth work, promote solidarity and inclusion, and inspire organizations to adopt creative, participatory methods in their daily activities.
