The “Diving into AI” project successfully have been implemented in Dortmund Germany back in 10-17 January 2026 and equipped youth workers with practical knowledge and skills to integrate artificial intelligence effectively and ethically into their youth work practice. The aim of the project was to specifically improve the quality of youth work in the participating organizations by introducing youth workers to the meaningful, reflective, and ethical use of artificial intelligence. A particular focus was placed on clarifying that AI is not an end in itself but a tool that can make youth work more efficient and contemporary. A key objective was to demonstrate that AI-supported methods can make a positive contribution to strengthening the critical thinking and employability of young people when used consciously. At the same time, the project should enable youth workers to actively use AI-based tools in informal learning settings and adapt them to the needs of different target groups. The focus was on identifying and showcasing good practices in the field of AI and youth work, in order to learn from each other and jointly develop new methods and approaches for contemporary European youth work. The project ultimately provided the participants with the competence to establish a balanced and responsible use of AI in their daily youth work and to sustainably transfer this to their organization and local contexts.
