Quality and innovation of youth workBridging intercultural, intergenerational and social dividePromotion of alternative forms of participation

Objectives

We believe in and want to promote a more inclusive idea of the circus as a tool for non-formal education, outside of the academies and high-level schools, and above all in the service of physical and mental well-being, personal development and fulfilment of young people, especially those with fewer opportunities. The project is structured around a 6-day training course in Berlin, where 9 youth workers from each organisation will come together to learn, practice and try out new circus tools for NFE. The training course will be guided by expert trainers, who will offer specific sessions on circus as a tool for community building, adaptable circus tools and social circus and clowning public space interventions with youngsters, and creative methodologies for civic participation. During the training there will also be a space for participants to exchange and learn from each other, acknowledging the expertise and wisdom we all carry within. We want to bring together actors in the youth work field and offer them a qualitative learning opportunity to enhance their: 1. Competences in applying social circus as an NFL tool 2. Creating inclusive offers that take into consideration intercultural dynamics 3. Chances to connect with local to international networks of youth workers By bringing together people with different experiences and expertise, we also want to allow a natural and fruitful exchange of perspectives and skills between participants, allowing newcomers in the social circus world to learn basic new skills and more experienced people to gain insights in the non-formal field. The participants will therefore be multipliers capable of following up on the skills acquired during the project and putting in place the techniques and practices learnt during the project in their future activities.
