From an educational perspective, intercultural experiences and trips to other European countries offer valuable learning and development opportunities for teenagers and young adults. They promote social skills, intercultural sensitivity and critical thinking. Through exchanges with peers from other countries, young people develop a deeper understanding of cultural diversity and European contexts. Especially considering today's political developments, it is particularly important for young Europeans to consciously engage with Europe and its opportunities. The European Union offers numerous opportunities for personal and professional development through programs such as Erasmus+ and DiscoverEU. These experiences not only strengthen their own identity, but also their awareness of democratic values, solidarity and European integration. International experiences help young people to understand solidarity not just as a theoretical concept, but as a lived practice. They learn to actively promote democratic values and peaceful coexistence - both at local and European level. Diversity is made tangible, while prejudices are reduced and the respectful treatment of different perspectives is strengthened. Participants in European mobility programs experience democratic values through active participation, learn about freedom of expression and equal rights in practice and develop empathy and intercultural sensitivity. The direct exchange enables them to see themselves as part of a European community. These experiences strengthen their awareness of responsibility, participation and cohesion in a pluralistic society. Young people with fewer opportunities in particular should take part in international encounters and mobility programs, as they can benefit in a special way from new perspectives, expanded educational and professional opportunities and the development of a European network. Intercultural experiences enable them to overcome barriers, gain self-confidence and actively participate in society. Inclusive access to such programs is therefore central to equitable education and greater social cohesion within the European community, as well as between the different countries of the EU. Social integration, mutual trust and solidarity between citizens, regardless of origin, social status or national affiliation, are a particular focus here. Through mobility programs and intercultural exchange, awareness of a common European identity grows, while social exclusion and inequalities are reduced. Without cohesion, there is a risk of social tensions and political polarization. It is therefore important to promote cohesion between European citizens through education, mobility and social justice.
