The synergies between social and environmental sustainability are an important issue for the huge trans-cultural sector of amateur arts, voluntary culture, and heritage, and it is also important for many of the new Nordic and EU funding programmes that support international cooperation. We wish to get new inspiration and knowledge to promote the added community values, not only back home but also in cooperation with other European partners about courses, conferences and development projects.
For over 15 years, Interfolk has been involved in more than 40 international projects, and most have been about the added community values of lifelong learning and culture activities in a civil society context. But we still need, in general, to improve our work with the added community values of environmental sustainability, and especially to promote the synergies between social and green community values, where green engagement can build bridges over social differences and cultural prejudices.
