Objectives

Our project, as Pangaea, is born out of our desire to give young people a unique opportunity to express their creativity, connect with nature and develop video and collaboration skills. We want to take a group of young people from different countries and bring them to Kosmas Arcadia, in an environment full of beauty and history, to work together on ideas and actions that combine art, experimentation with digital technology, and non-formal education. Our main goal is to help young people see themselves as creators, not as spectators. We have noticed that many children want to take up videography or photography, but lack the confidence, access to equipment, or the right guidance. At Cosmas, inspired by nature and the possibilities provided by the mountains, we will offer all these participants a "blank canvas" to make their own short films, either through Cine-Calls in the wilderness or through an Eco-Diary in vlog format or even Night-Time Shooting and Star Trails. Our aim is to encourage them to learn basic camera, editing and storytelling techniques so that they feel confident in their abilities and develop skills that will be valuable in the future. At the same time, however, we don't want our program to be just a 'filming excursion'. We design activities that reinforce non-formal education and teamwork. Through challenges like the Technology-Free Challenge, we will experience what it's like to be in a natural environment and communicate meaningfully without the blizzard of notifications we're used to in the city. In the 48-hour shelter, the group will get in touch with the more "wild" character of the mountain, learning to organize their daily lives with few resources, respect the environment, and work collectively to shoot scenes or short stories in front of the camera. Another of our objectives is intercultural learning and the exchange of experiences between the young people who will arrive in Kosmas from different countries. As the children talk to each other, exchange ideas for video shoots, discover how practical difficulties are solved, they realize that cooperation and acceptance of diversity accelerates creativity and enriches the final result. Through activities such as Silent Nature Stories non-speech nights or reflection sessions, we aim to develop listening skills, respect for teamwork and meaningful communication. On a practical level, our project aspires to trigger new methods of working with young people. We intend to use nature not only as a setting but also as a "partner" in education, highlighting the special value of the mountain environment of Kosmas. Moreover, having incorporated tools of video, lighting and editing, we want to show how technology can act as a lever of expression, without imprisoning the imagination. We emphasize sustainability and non-formal learning while aiming to strengthen the confidence of young people who may not have previously had the opportunity or knowledge to express their creativity in a public context. Overall, through this programme we seek to achieve four main objectives: Firstly, to empower young people with video, digital content and storytelling skills to use digital platforms in a creative and entrepreneurial way. Second, to develop an experiential learning team through non-formal activities in nature, fostering confidence, collaboration and problem solving. Thirdly, to promote intercultural encounters between young people from different parts of Europe to get to know each other better, exchange ideas and build friendships that will continue beyond the project. Fourthly, to create a legacy of good practices that will inspire other organizations or groups of young people to venture into similar exchanges or artistic activities, integrating the natural environment and digital creation. As young people who love art and innovation, we want to prove that a youth exchange can be much more than a "training trip". With confidence and room to create, the kids who take part will learn to harness video, social media and teamwork, returning to their community with new ideas and an appetite for collaboration. In the end, we will keep this exchange alive through screenings of the videos, outreach activities in schools or local communities, and digital tools that will highlight the experiences lived. In this way, the "journey" will never really end, because Pangaea's vision is the power we gain when we explore our skills and when we share our creativity with those around us.
