Our project aims to transform a traditional Greek practice into a sustainable and creative experience that highlights both local cultural heritage and a modern approach to environmental sustainability. Through this action, we seek to create a dynamic working framework that integrates young people and youth in a common effort to enhance local tradition, transforming it into a modern form of art and cultural expression. Specifically, the project will take place in Sikea Laconia and will bring together 24 participants, organized in groups with 4 team leaders and 2 team leaders, who will collaborate in all stages of the implementation of the activities. We will emphasize the practical involvement of young people, offering them the opportunity to get actively involved in a series of creative workshops, group meetings and activities aimed at both highlighting local traditions and promoting environmental sustainability. We will organise activities that will allow young people to learn how to transform traditional customs and local techniques into modern art forms, using sustainable materials and environmentally respectful technologies. This practice will allow participants to acquire new skills, enhance their creativity and learn how they can contribute to the revival and renewal of their cultural heritage in a way that is intertwined with the protection of the natural environment. Through collaboration with partners from Serbia, Romania and Spain, we will incorporate multinational approaches and experiences that will enable young people to exchange ideas and practices, learn from different traditions and broaden their horizons internationally. The team from Serbia, with their fine arts studies and passion for creativity, will bring a sense of creativity and artistic expression to the project, while the experienced organisation from Romania will ensure that the non-formal learning methodology and project organisation will meet the high standards of the programme, thanks to three years of experience with accretidation in Erasmus. From Spain, young people with experience in flamenco and traditional musical instruments will contribute, enhancing the musical and cultural dimension of the action, and this will strengthen the exchange of cultural elements that will contribute to the formation of a common spirit and interaction between the participants. Our aim is to turn this traditional celebration into a sustainable practice that not only highlights the cultural and environmental characteristics of the area, but also creates a new model of cooperation and creativity that can be replicated in other communities in Europe. The practice of working with young people will enable them to take an active role in the organisation of activities, from planning to implementation and dissemination of results, thus reinforcing a sense of shared ownership and responsibility towards the project and the local community. Moreover, through their participation process, young people will create content that will be used to promote and disseminate the project, either through social networks or through public events and conferences that we will organise at local and European level. This content will document their creative processes, actions and experiences, and will serve as an example for future initiatives in the field of art, heritage and sustainability. Overall, our project will result not only in the revitalisation of a traditional Greek celebration through a modern and sustainable approach, but will also serve as a model for the organisation of similar actions that will enhance youth participation, promote cultural exchange and contribute to the creation of a network of cooperation between different European communities. We will create a platform where art, tradition and sustainability come together, enabling young people to develop as creators, organisers and agents of change, and leaving a long-term legacy linking local identity with the European cultural community. In this way, we seek to inspire a new generation that will see art and tradition not only as a means of entertainment, but also as a tool for social and environmental transformation, contributing to the enhancement of our cultural heritage in a way that reflects the contemporary needs and challenges of our time.
