Objectives

The main reason why we want to carry out this project is to highlight the importance of sportsmanship when it comes to sports. The incidents of violence in the fields keep increasing in all European countries and universally. In the year 2024 we saw acts of radicalisation and violence in sports that ruin the integrity of sports and undo all the goods they offer. Sports are so important in our everyday life, because it helps us keep and improve our mental and physical health. Nowadays it’s a shame that people tend to ignore the benefits of sports and instead of getting inspired by the mindset of great athletes, they become aggressive and obsessed. Their goal is to win and not to truly enjoy the process. The real meaning of sports, is to belong in a group, cooperate, and try to overcome the problems every person faces. The only person we need to compete is ourselves. Young people need to be more informed about the importance of sports for their health and their mindset. In addition, youth nowadays isn’t properly informed about the amount of violence we spot in fields. Some countries tend to have low levels of violence, whereas other countries are less educated in this sector and haven’t yet adopted strict measures when it comes to hooliganism and violence in sports. This project is an educational program, with professionals in this field that have seen violence and can offer drastical solutions. Furthermore, it aims to raise awareness and inform about the consequences of lack of sports in our everyday life. Most importantly, it aims to succeed collaborations between youth workers and create a bonding team, to discuss, concern and find new unknown solutions, based on the information and the knowledge they are going to gain in this project. All the 10 countries including Greece, have spotted incidents of violence with the signature of sports, some of them ending even with deaths. On top of that we have selected partner countries with a low percentage of sports-active adults to promote avocation with sports. We selected this mixed team, with countries with low and high levels of violence, to succeed better collaboration, inspire them, raise awareness about this serious problem and discuss to find better adjustable solutions. All countries will explain their perspective and the problem theis society faces and will offer solutions and measures that are applied in their country. The objectives of the project are: Nurture a healthier lifestyle through active participation in sports. Reduce radicalisation and violence in sports Promote a healthy mindset, based on comparing only to ourselves and understand the importance of sportsmanship in a deeper level Make competitive sports non radical Identify the causes of violence in sports (intense desire to win, people controlling the mass, uneducated people etc.) and find ways to encounter them Create a controlled competitive environment and eliminate any forms of violence to prove that we can have competitive sports without violence and extreme behaviors Promotion of diversity and dialogue between cultures and religions by working together in tolerance and respect through all the process of the project to achieve long-term goals of collaborations between organisations and reduce the act of racist violence that we often meet in sports. Encourage new development, regarding sports, in the work of participating organisations Enhance intercultural awareness of participants; Succeed results though NFE methods and dialogue between different countries with different information, backgrounds and perspectives Assemble together young individuals and youth workers in the field of non-formal education from the partner organisations in order to develop essential skills and competences, and establish a network of active sports people that are willing to contribute to a violence-free sports environment. The objectives above apply to youth work practice. We want to imply youth work with new perspectives and methodologies, undo the stereotypes and fight racism and violence. On top of that we want to promote Sports avocation in youth to provide them with future healthier lifestyles.
