The Play & Think project was created with the aim of combining music and dialogue about mental health in a safe and inclusive space. Over the last few years, the number of young people with mental health problems has increased significantly, highlighting the need to create spaces where they can express themselves, understand their emotions and connect with others in a healthy and creative way. Numerous studies show that music therapy is a powerful tool for emotional management, especially in neurodivergent youth. Its practice helps reduce stress and anxiety levels, improves concentration, memory and communication, reinforces self-esteem and fosters resilience. It also contributes to improve self-control, sociability and interpersonal relationships, promoting teamwork and social integration. This exchange aims to provide tools that enable the creation of safer and more inclusive spaces, where music and non-formal education serve as tools for empowerment and social transformation. Through active participation in musical dynamics and participatory methodologies, young people will be able to develop assertive communication skills, dialogue, community and empathy. From a youth work perspective, the specific objectives of the project are: 1.To include neurodivergent youth and eliminate the stigma associated with mental health. We want to provide a space where neurodivergent people can share their experiences and feel listened to, promoting acceptance and normalization of cognitive diversity. 2.To favor cultural exchange and the breaking of stereotypes. The coexistence between young people from different countries, cultures and traditions will allow to create bonds of understanding and respect, promoting diversity as an enriching value. Promote music as a universal tool against discrimination. Music is a common language that transcends barriers. This project seeks to use it as a vehicle for inclusion, self-expression and connection between people from different realities. Raise awareness about verbal and non-verbal communication. Through music, we will explore how people can express themselves beyond words, facilitating the inclusion of those who encounter barriers in traditional communication. 5.Create support networks in each community We want the impact of the project to continue after the exchange, motivating participants to generate emotional and social support networks in their own communities. 6.Encourage self-knowledge and reflection through music. Music not only allows us to communicate, but also to explore and understand our own emotions. We want young people to find in it a space for introspection and personal growth. To achieve these objectives, we will work with non-formal education methodologies, voluntary participation and an approach focused on the well-being of the participants. We will create a safe space where each young person can contribute freely and actively, developing tools that they can then take back to their communities. Play & Think is not just an exchange, but an invitation to rethink mental health, inclusion and creativity, offering young people the opportunity to become agents of change in their environment.
